Alumni Spotlight - Kristina Elisabet Andrésdóttir
In this week’s Alumni Spotlight, we meet a student from Iceland who decided to study for an MBA in Business Administration (Aviation) because the course aligned with the career path she wanted to focus on. Kristina shares her experience of studying at Perth College UHI 👇
What is your name, and where are you from?
Kristina Elisabet Andrésdóttir and I am from Iceland.
What course are you studying at Perth College UHI, and what year are you currently in?
In December 2021, I finished my 18-month study at Perth College UHI doing an MBA with a focus on Aviation.
What were you doing before you came to college?
I was studying in Iceland and finished my Business degree in May 2020.
Why did you decide to pick this course?
Because of the career path that I want to focus on, this programme was most suited.
What is your favourite thing about the course?
The teacher and the insight they have regarding knowledge, teaching method, and passion to aviation.
During the pandemic, how did the style of teaching change? Were your lecturers supportive during this time?
I started during the pandemic, so I did not feel the difference that other students might have felt.
Has there been any standout/memorable moments from your course?
My teacher, Claudia. She made every lecture interesting and was very engaging with her students. She made me believe in myself and that I could do more. She encouraged me to go further after I finished my degree and apply to start my PhD journey.
The aviation-related courses were the standout for me during my 18-month journey at Perth College UHI. I learned a lot that has helped me be better at my job and given me the tools to handle difficult situations that arise.
Any other achievements you have gained on your journey?
More understanding on leadership and what kind of leader I strive to become.
Have you enjoyed studying at Perth College UHI?
Yes, I enjoyed it very much.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of college?
I love to travel. My goal is to travel as much as possible for the next few years, especially after not being able to travel for two years due to Covid.
What are your plans, for after you finish your course?
My plans are to either to get another master’s degree or keep on studying with Perth College UHI and finish my PhD. I will take a year off and decide what I want to do.
And finally, what advice would you give to someone thinking about studying at Perth College UHI?
Don’t think about it, just do it! It is affordable and a great programme. This programme will help you get to the career stage that you want.
