We meet a student who has just finished the final year of this degree, to find out how she has found it.

Can you introduce yourself?

Veronika Kusa and I live in Perth.

What course are you currently studying?

BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Why did you decide to study at UHI Perth?

I live 10 minutes from the college, which I found handy for travelling. Furthermore, I had an interest to study sports therapy - which really worked well for me.

Why was this the right course for you?

I always liked working with people and applying treatments. Back in the Czech Republic, I did a course in sport massage, so I then decided to do a whole course in the UK to expand on my professional knowledge and learn in different language.

What do you think about the style of teaching and the support you’ve received from tutors and lecturers?

I was always happy with the support that I have received from my lecturers from year one. There was always clear communication and guidance throughout the tasks. Also, when I  struggled with something, the lecturers made sure before I left the classroom that I had full understanding of what was expected for assessments or practical learning. Throughout the years, there was a good mixture of theory and practical learning.

Have you been/ were you involved in any sports, social or cultural clubs or activities whilst at UHI?

I am a regular client of the climbing wall, which is located on campus. I love climbing so I am very happy that the facilities are available for us.

Have you undertaken any student placements?

In year one and two, I was attending the sport clinic which is located in college. I learned a lot from the clinic – such as improving my confidence and communication with the clients, and working on real case studies which helps to my enhance skill set for future working environments.

What career direction would you like to take after studying?

I would like to start my own business providing multiple services and rehab. Also, I may consider taking a masters in physiotherapy and combine my skill set and expand on the knowledge.

How do you feel your studies will help you in your career progression?

The studies will provide me with a good base to start my own business and also keeps the door open for a master’s if I will decide to go that direction.

What are your favourite things about UHI?

The climbing wall. Also, the friendly, approachable, professional and knowledgeable staff.

Is there anything else you feel like telling us about your experience at UHI?

UHI is a well-managed, positive, and a fun working environment.
