Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Gabi and I am studying HNC Social Sciences.

What were you doing before the course, and why did you decide to do it?

Before this course, I was at Perth High School, and I chose to do this course because I was interested in criminology.

How did you feel when you started at UHI Perth?

When I started at UHI Perth I felt great. It was very welcoming. I had a great time at level five, and every other year since then.

What subjects have you enjoyed on the course?

Politics, modern studies, and psychology. I'm very much interested in politics, and I want to pursue a career in political law.

How do you get on with your classmates?

I get on great with my classmates because I've been friends with most of them for three years. And there's people from high school studying here as well, that I've been friends with since S2.

Have you faced any challenges whilst you’ve been on the course?

I have faced quite a lot of challenges because the workload is very heavy. It can be stressful to get assignments in on time. They are very difficult sometimes.

How have the lecturers supported you whilst you’ve been on the course?

The lecturers on the course have been great, and they have helped me every step of the way. They support me with any questions I have for the assignments and, if they can’t help with anything, they refer me to people that can.

Do you have any hobbies outside of college?

I go to the gym and read.

What are you enjoying on the course?

I am enjoying politics because we were studying key theorists in history that helped shape the political systems around the world.

What are your plans after you finish the course?

My plan after finishing this course is to go to university. I don't know if I want to do my master’s yet, but that's my plan.

What advice would you give to someone if they are coming to college for the first time?

The advice I would give is to take it seriously and do your reading.

This course is designed to help you see the world differently. We are all exposed to so much information in our daily lives that it can be difficult to assess what is real and what is ‘fake’: HNC Social Sciences is the perfect course for students who want to develop the skills to search for the truth.
